NOWNESS

To celebrate the holiday season, NOWNESS released a series of short films by creative director Bunny Kinney titled ’12 Days of Performance’. The series, which features improvised displays by a variety of innovative artists, intends to “hold up a mirror to the diverse, creative worlds we’ve explored over the past twelve months”.

Highlights include an ominous contribution from actress and #metoo activist Rose McGowan, who tearfully stares into the camera to the sound of a haunting choir. South London poet James Massiah’s intimate verse is underscored by a subtle violin coda; and a processed toy-box melody is mixed with distorted electrical interference in a surreal piece for makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench.

Other notable clips include the eerie contortionist dance of Kaner Flex, a soulful vocal performance by London R&B artist Greentea Peng, and the avant-garde noise of Japanese band Bo Ningen.

We provided music supervision and sound design across the 12 videos, creating immersive soundscapes using processed audio captured during each individual performance. These are presented as a complex medley in the final three-minute collaborative film.
