Adidas Originals’ short series ‘SHPTLKS’ focuses on some of the best sneaker stores around the world, taking a behind-the-scenes look at the latest collaborations and observing the evolution of the brands. Each episode gives an insight into how the shops operate in their diverse cities, using interviews with the founders to highlight what makes each store stand out.
The second episode of season 2 focuses on Nicolas Ivars and his shop ‘The Next Door’ in Avignon, France. He recounts his personal journey, from welding Christmas decorations in a factory in 1999 to launching ‘The Next Door’ in a former English imports retail space in 2006. In 2019 he has launched his latest Consortium collaborations – the SC Premiere and the A.R. Trainer, which are inspired by the theatre culture that is at the heart of the city.
For this episode, produced and directed by La Familia, we sourced a range of hip hop instrumentals and sample-heavy electronic tracks, reflecting the region’s contemporary musical culture and the store’s fusion of modern and classical influences.
