Wide Awake Festival

One of London’s most exciting new music festivals returns to Brockwell Park this May, with an expanded two-day event comprising local and international artists. ‘Wide Awake’ is a joint venture between promoters Bad Vibrations, LNZRT and SC&P, who strive for an equitable gender split across the full festival line-up, as well the continuation of an eco-conscious ‘Positive Policy’.

The 2022 schedule includes a range of DOLCE favourites spanning a multitude of genres. Electronic artists Bicep, Caribou and Overmono appear alongside Peruvian producer Sofia Kourtesis and Netherlands-based Young Marco on the Friday line-up, as do two artists whose music we licensed for the ‘Play Next’ podcast in 2021: Alewya and Elkka. Saturday’s line-up, meanwhile, includes Floating Points — whose Mercury Prize-nominated collaboration with jazz saxophonist Pharoah Sanders we included among our records of the year in 2021.

Further highlights include two remarkable female indie-folk artists from either side of the Atlantic in Faye Webster and Katy J. Pearson, while a dose of punk is supplied by London’s Chubby and the Gang and New York’s Surfbort — the latter of whom shot to fame after appearing in Gucci’s 2019 Pre-Fall campaign. Elsewhere, Malian singer-songwriter Fatoumata Diawara appears alongside Turkish psych-folk band Altin Gün and Congolese ensemble Fulu Miziki, with big names like Primal Scream, Fat White Family and The Horrors taking up slots elsewhere on the bill.

‘Wide Awake’ takes place in Brockwell Park on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th May 2022.
