DOLCE’s RSD 2021 Playlist
Record Store Day returns this month with over 200 independent record shops across the UK uniting as part of a global event celebrating the culture of music. The 2021 edition will take place over two Saturdays in 2021, where a pantheon of limited edition physical releases including cult album reissues, rare film scores and obscure, imported recordings will be unveiled.
We’ve compiled a playlist of our favourite tracks across the extensive selection of releases. They range from reissues by afrobeat sensation Fela Kuti and proto-punk pioneers Suicide to new works by Squid and Jim-E Stack. Japanese jazz guitarist Ryo Kawasaki’s ‘Caravan’ is also in the mix, plus an obscure 2009 ambient work by Oneohtrix Point Never and a cut from the first solo album by former X-Ray Spex frontwoman Poly Styrene. A club classic from Future Sound of London, and John Martyn’s transcendent cover of Portishead trip-hop anthem ‘Glory Box’ cap off our highlights.
Record Store Day 2021 takes place across the UK on June 12th and July 17th 2021.
