The Tender Interval: Studies in Sound and Motion
‘The Tender Interval: Studies in Sound and Motion’ is a week-long series of events at the ICA exploring the transformative qualities of sound and dance practices. Through talks and musical performances, the series will explore time as a material, the body as instrument, and the frequencies between practicing, playing, and conducting as modes of world-making.
Events include techno musician Object Blue’s ‘Attitudes To Listening’. The seminar and workshop explores the theme of ecstasy in music by questioning why we perceive clubs and mass-dancing to be transcendental experiences. ‘The Sample As Time Machine’, meanwhile, is a night of music that explores sampling, mixing and genre-bending a form of temporal deconstruction.
‘The Tender Interval: Studies in Sound and Motion’ runs from February 5th – 9th, 2020 at the ICA.
