Overmono – Whities 019

Tom and Ed Russell are better known by their individual monikers Truss and Tessela, having released a series of underground electronic works over the past decade on labels like R&S, Perc Trax, and the latter’s own Poly Kicks. The pair collaborated on a series of tracks as Overmono for the first time in 2016 following a productive writing session in a secluded cottage in Wales. 

Following a trilogy of EPs on XL between 2016 and 2017, and another on Poly Kicks earlier this year, Nic Tasker’s label Whities have now announced ‘Whities 019’ – a three-track EP by the duo that serves as the label’s final release of 2018. 

Spacey pads and flourishes of isolated percussion are hallmarks of the record, influenced by the rave music the brothers were introduced to in their school-age years. It’s a strong but subtle collection that induces a dream state in the beholder; perfect listening for dark and long nights in December.
